Deleting Rules

If you have the appropriate permissions, you can delete rules from rulesets. You must check out both the ruleset and the rule, and the ruleset must be in editing mode before you delete a rule.

Caution: Once you delete a rule, you can restore it by exiting the ruleset without saving changes or reverting to a previous version of the ruleset that contained the deleted rule. If you revert to or promote a previous version to restore rules that have been deleted, ALL rules in the ruleset will return to their previous versions.

If you cancel a checkout on the ruleset, you will get the deleted rules back. Any new rules that you added to the ruleset would be lost.

  1. Select the ruleset to open it.
  2. Click the Check Out icon to check out the ruleset that contains the rule to delete.
  3. If the ruleset is not already in edit mode, click the Edit icon.
  4. Highlight the rule to delete and click the Check Out icon.
The red x icon becomes active.
  5. Click the red x delete icon.
  6. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.
  7. Click the Save icon to save the changes.
  8. Click the Check In icon to save the changes to the repository.
  9. Submit the ruleset change for approval.
Important: This ruleset change must be approved prior to rule deployment. Rule deployment is not possible for rulesets that have not been approved.
