Deploying Projects

Deploying a project validates active and approved rules in all projects for the current tenant and moves them onto the Falcon Scoring Server so they can be used to evaluate transactions.
The Deploy Rules icon deploys all active and approved rules in all rulesets across all your projects for the Tenant you are logged into. Falcon Expert will not deploy rules if one or more rules are checked out in any project. In horizontally scaled Falcon installations, rules are deployed on the primary node and then on all secondary nodes automatically.
Important: Rules can be deployed by Falcon Expert users who have been assigned roles or permissions that allow rule deployment. In addition, users must be assigned Expert <datafeed> permissions for a project in order to deploy rules for that project. If you want your Falcon Expert users to be able to deploy all rules for all projects, make sure the datafeed permissions for all projects are assigned to that user.
Note: You must select the Is Active option for a rule to deploy it.

It is recommended that you validate each rule frequently because unsuccessful deployment may be caused by invalid rule syntax in one or more of your rules. Validation is automatically performed when you check in active rules. All rules must be checked in, active, and approved to be deployed to the Scoring Server.

  1. Click the Deploy Rules icon.

A confirmation box prompts you to deploy or abort.

You may see one or two messages after you click Deploy Rules.
    • You may see an out-of-date message or one that informs you that a ruleset or rule is currently checked out. These problems must be resolved before the rules can be successfully deployed.
    • You may see messages that list items that are not approved or that contain items that are not approved. This list may include decision rulesets, UDV calculation rulesets, tracking management projects, or UDV/UDP management items. Individual unapproved rules are not listed, but the rulesets that contain them are listed. If you receive such a message, you must cancel the deployment and resolve all unapproved changes or deletions.
  2. Click YES to continue with the rule deployment process or click NO to cancel the deployment.
During deployment, a message is displayed requesting that you wait until the deployment is complete.
Important: Deployment can take several minutes. It is recommended that you not close your browser window during this time.
Once deployment is successful, the message Rules are deployed successfully appears, and the Falcon Expert Home page is displayed. If the deployment fails, an error message is displayed. The rules in the Scoring Server are automatically rolled back to the rules that were in production at the time when the rules deployment process started.
Note: In horizontally scaled Falcon installations, this message indicates that the Scoring Server Rules repository has been updated, but the reload of rule engines on multiple Scoring Server nodes might still be in progress.
