Create the Rules and Validate the Syntax
-
Write the rule by hand first, just to capture your ideas.
Feel free to abbreviate and do not worry about spelling or exact syntax at this point.
- Launch Falcon Expert and create the rule.
- Type the narrative in the description field.
- If the code for the rule is lengthy and complex, use //comment lines to explain your logic.
- Check in the rule, then open it and use the displayed
Validate button to check rule syntax.
A small, red-wavy line indicates an error. Remember that your logic will not be tested here.
- Review the rule and edit for any syntactical errors.
- Submit the rule for approval. Someone with the appropriate permissions will review your rule and approve or reject your changes.
If you want to cancel the approval submission, you can set the workflow status to In Progress to continue working on the rule.
- If a submitted rule is rejected, make any necessary edits, validate the rule, and resubmit for approval.
