Renaming a User-Defined Variable

You cannot rename user-defined variables (UDVs) that are currently in use by other rules. To rename a UDV, remove any reference to it in all rulesets. Once removed, you can return to the UDV Management category and click the UDV you wish to rename.

To rename a UDV, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the UDV/UDP Management project.
  2. Select the appropriate group.
    • If you are renaming an account-level UDV, select Account UDV Management.
    • If you are renaming a customer-level UDV, select Customer UDV Management.
    • If you are renaming a service-level UDV, select Service UDV management.
  3. Select the appropriate category (Integer, Real, or String UDV Management).
  4. Click the Check Out icon.
  5. Click the UDV you like to rename.
  6. Enter a new name for UDV.
  7. Click the Save icon.
  8. Click the Check In icon to check in the changes and make the changes visible to other users.
    Important: Any UDV Management ruleset that contains the renamed UDV must be approved prior to rule deployment. Rule deployment is not possible for rules that reference UDVs that have not been approved.
